New Neil Jordan film to open the Dublin Film Festival that will feature cinema from over 30 countries.

The Jameson International Dublin Film Festival will open with the Neil Jordan film 'Ondine' starring Colin Farrell.

Shot in Cork, this enchanting fairy tale tells the story of a fisherman who catches a mysterious woman in his nets.

This year the Dublin Film Festival is dedicated to the Irish Times critic Michael Dwyer, a former director and founder of the festival, who died on 1 January this year.

The programme features five films that Michael Dwyer championed during previous festivals including 'The Best of Youth' (2003) and The Unbelievable Truth (1989). Dublin Film Festival director Grainne Humphreys pays tribute to Michael Dwyer who was always interested in connecting the films and the audience.

Films from Russia and Korea feature across the eleven days of the festival.
