Cockroaches are becoming a significant problem in Ireland.
In the last ten years, the number of cockroaches in Ireland has increased dramatically. Many of the cockroaches arrive on Irish shores from abroad in cargo containers others in luggage with people returning from holidays abroad.
People who work in pest control say they have seen a 25 per cent increase year on year in the number of calls they are receiving to deal with cockroach infestations.
Roaches are not too fussy about where they live although they generally prefer a warm bed.
Brendan Ryan, Premier Pest Control, believes that the infestations of cockroaches are a significant problem. They are receiving calls from restaurants, hotels, rented accommodation and hospitals. Walls are no problem to cockroaches so if your neighbours have them, they can very easily move into your home. The professionals advise that if you have a problem with cockroaches, they should be dealt with quickly before the infestation gets out of hand.
