Michael Flatley is made an honorary Cork man in his adopted county.

Michael Flatley lives in Cork, got married there and has spent €50 million renovating Castlehyde House. He has also been the Grand Marshall of the Cork city Saint Patrick's Day Parade. His commitment to his adopted county has now been marked as he is made an honorary Cork man. Fellow honorary Cork man, actor Jeremy Irons, presented Michael Flatley with the award at the annual Cork Person of the Year Award ceremony.

He was presented with an honorary Corkman award.

Michael Flatley has lived all over the world but is very much at home in Cork and feels blessed to have received such an honour.

Nothing is as inspiring as walking along the banks of the Blackwater river in Cork.

The Cork Person of the Year Award went to abuse survivor Louise O'Keeffe who says her campaign for justice for other survivors of abuse will carry on. She said,

We must acknowledge what happened in the past to go forward in the future.
