Paul Young had a great few years with Q-Tips before his achievements as a solo artist.
Paul Young toured with the band Q-Tips for years before finding success as a solo artist. In 1982 he began work on his debut album 'No Parlez' which was released the following year reaching number one in the UK album charts. Three hit singles from the album established him at the top of the music business.
He has already performed in Ireland with the Q-Tips and remembers his time on the road with the band fondly. Q-Tips played on the same bill as U2 and The Police at Leixlip Castle in 1980 and in 1981 performed with Wishbone Ash in Macroom.
The Q-Tips were crazy, the best three years of fun I've ever had and getting paid for doing it.
Having gone solo, his main concern was trying recreate the studio sound of 'No Parlez' in a live show. The first single from 'No Parlez' was 'Love of the Common People' which only achieved success on its second release.
Common People was my big choice for what I thought was going to be the best pop single that was going to be on my album.
