Potential for Irish manufacturers to grow their share of the domestic retail market.
With Christmas approaching Irish consumers will spend in the region of £75 million every day. In the past over sixty pence in the pound of this spend was on imported goods. It is estimated that every additional one million pounds in new sales won by Irish manufacturers could mean over 50 new jobs in the Irish economy.
According to John Corrigan of An Bord Tractala,
There's a lot of additional potential for Irish manufacturers here on the domestic market.
Thousands of people will come to Ireland in the new year to buy specifically Irish goods spending approximately £150 million. It is hoped that this will encourage Irish consumers to do likewise.
