The Australian team to take on Ireland in a compromise game of Gaelic and Australian Rules football arrives.

The team representing Australia made up of stars of the Australian Rules games is greeted at Dublin Airport by Gaelic Athletic Association officials including President Paddy Buggy, Director General Liam Mulvihill, and Kerry footballer Jack O'Shea.

Australia and Ireland will play a test series under the special compromise rules negotiated by GAA officials and Australian Rules representatives.

It's the first time the two national games have been played at international level and in 1986 an Irish squad will make a return tour of Australia.

Vice President of the National Football League Vince Yovich says the Australian team coach John Todd expects nothing less than a competitive series.

Our players can adapt quite readily with the composite rules that have been agreed on.

Tour manager Ed Biggs is looking forward to the test matches once he has recovered from the long flight.

We're here to win.
