The growing use of computers in the school education system is reflected in how students are learning.

Michael Dell, Chairman of global computer giant Dell Computers, visits Coláiste Chiaráin in Croom County Limerick. Michael Dell was in Limerick to mark an extension of the intelligent classroom concept. The company has donated 85 notebook computers to the school to enable the use of technology across the curriculum. Michael Dell described the project as,

A blueprint for the Irish school of the future.

The students say the availability and accessibility to technology have made a big difference to their learning.

Coláiste Chiaráin principal Noel Malone would like to see the project taken to the next level by becoming the first school ever to do the Junior Certificate entirely on computer.

Dell is targeting the use of computers in the classroom as an area of growth for the company in the future.

According to Michael Dell, the objective is,

To prepare students for the knowledge economy, it must give them the skills that are required.
