Technical problems find holidaymakers heading to Orlando in Florida getting no further than Shannon Airport. Tour operator JWT is unable to find overnight accommodation for those stranded in Shannon. Passengers have no choice but to make do with the airport's facilities.
A replacement part for the Rich International Airlines' DC8 plane is flown from Miami to Shannon. While engineers work on the plane passengers grow increasingly impatient,
It's gone on so long, it's still not sorted.
The enraged passengers include four couples going to Florida on honeymoon. One of them comments,
It's a very bad start anyway.
There is a round of applause when it is announced the DC8 plane is ready for take-off. After a 27-hour delay, the plane finally departs Shannon Airport.
