Mass is celebrated in Murrisk Abbey, County Mayo.

A large number of pilgrims travelled from Ballyhaunis in County Mayo to the five hundred year old Murrisk Abbey near Westport, for a Holy Year pilgrimage organised by the Augustinians in Ballyhaunis.

The Murrisk chalice which dates from 1648 was used during the celebration of the Mass.

Established in the fifteenth century, the abbey was dedicated to Saint Patrick and was home to the Augustinian order until the eighteenth century. The site has also been associated for centuries as a rest stop for pilgrims before they set out to make the ascent of nearby Croagh Patrick.
