Two leading film directors are working with UPC one of the companies bidding to buy Cablelink.

Film directors Jim Sheridan and Neil Jordan have joined forces to partner with the Dutch company UPC who are bidding to buy Cablelink network.

.Speaking at Ardmore Studios, Jim Sheridan says they will be looking at producing programming and developing talent for the new television service. The television station will be called CityONE.

UPC are already a major shareholder in Tara Television which is dedicated to broadcasting Irish programming overseas.

The new station will be called CityONE and will be broadcast initially to Dublin and later throughout the country.

Film producer Arthur Lappin says that the new venture will have to be very different in tone and texture to any existing Irish channels.
