Tá údar dóchais ag píobairí na hÉireann don todhchaí.
Na Píobairí Uilleann (Society of Irish Pipers) was founded in 1968 at a time when the playing and making of uilleann pipes was in serious decline. Founder members included pipers Leo Rowsome, Seamus Ennis and Paddy Moloney, and music collector and researcher Breandán Breathnach.
Since that time Na Píobairí Uilleann has worked to promote piping and traditional music and production of the instrument. The fruits of that labour can be seen today with the popularity of uilleann pipers such as Liam O'Flynn, Finbar Furey and Paddy Moloney, and traditional music in general.
Uilleann pipe lessons take place throughout the week at Na Píobairí Uilleann headquarters in No. 15 Henrietta Street Dublin. As teacher Nollaig Mac Cárthaigh explains, the organisations’s primary focus is,
Deis ag daoine píobaireacht a fhoghlaim i gceart.
Other musicians are also welcome too, fiddle teacher Máire Ní Chaoimh among them. Tunes and technique are important, but in her opinion the experience of playing together outside the classroom holds a special value,
Go mbeidh na daoine in ann seinm istigh sna seisiúns.
