Eamonn Coghlan returns home having set a new world record time for the indoor mile.

Eamonn Coghlan is home in Dublin following his world record breaking performance in San Diego, California. He set a new world record for the indoor mile in a time of 3 minutes 52.6 seconds beating the old record set last year by 2.3 seconds.

He is very grateful for the support at venues throughout the indoor season.

I was so proud to be Irish, you wouldn't believe.

it was an amazing feeling crossing the line knowing that everybody back in Ireland was proud of his achievements. Following success in the US and Canada, Eamonn Coghlan is now looking ahead to the outdoor season and the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.
