A pilgrimage to the St Brigid's shine at Faughart in County Louth.

Faughart is an early Christian ruin and bright place of St Brigid in the fifth century. In addition to a shrine, landmarks include St Brigid's stone, pillar and well which attract pilgrims to the site.

Large crowds are pictured as part of the annual National Pilgrimage to St Brigid's Shrine. They are dressed in all their finery to take part in the procession. Among them are little girls in their first communion dresses. The procession made its way from Kilcurry Church led by the parochial choir and St Gerard's Brass Band from Dundalk. Upon arrival at the shrine, devotions take place with a special sermon by Fr Matthew Walsh.

St Brigid is one of the patron saints of Ireland, along with Saint Patrick and Saint Colmcille.
