An unemployed man tries a different approach to attract the attention of employers.

The high level of unemployment means competition for jobs is tough. Seán Walshe has come up with a new way of trying to improve his chances of finding gainful employment. A presentation CV made on video now accompanies his job applications.

Out of work since last December Seán Walshe dedicates most of his day looking for employment. After exhausting the traditional approach to a job hunt by contacting most of the top employers in the country, he changed tack by investing money to make himself more appealing to a potential employer.

Out went the paper CV, in came the video.

The video allows Seán Walshe to introduce himself and his skills. The former sales manager who was let go during the recession is determined to find a job given the financial challenges he faces. He now sends companies copies of his video instead of his CV.

Domhnall Murphy, Director of Marketing and Sales with Nestlé received one of Seán Walshe's videos and was Impressed by the approach. Other companies also give Seán Walshe an interview on the back of the video. Yet to receive any concrete job offers, he is hopeful.

I think I will get a job.
