The traditional fishing boat used in Connemara is celebrated at Féile Na gCurachaí in Spiddal.
Féile Na gCurachaí opened with a parade of marching bands and floats through An Spidéal.
The currach races got underway on Sunday afternoon. Connemara's Micheál Ó Cathain, Padraig Ó Conghaile and Colm Ó Maoila representing the island of Inis Treabhair emerged triumphant beating off competition from Donegal, Clare and Kerry.
