No kidding in Clare as a herd of feral goats cause trouble for road users, businesses and locals.

Clare County Council warns motorists in Ennis to drive with care to avoid a herd of wandering feral goats, that includes two large pucks and at least six kids.

They've been roaming the suburb of Ennis, County Clare and getting on people’s goat.

For over 20 years the herd has occupied an area of scrubland known as the Rocky Road. However the herd has multiplied exponentially and now wanders unsupervised on a very busy road.

Councillor Mary Howard of Ennis Municipal District, Clare Country Council is concerned about the goats roaming the densely populated and busy urban area at the N68 and N85. She is also aware of the havoc wreaked by the goats on privately owned gardens and commercial grounds.

Mary Howard understands that nobody wants to see the goats culled and feels the right solution is to have the herd rounded up and humanely re-homed. County Clare dog warden Frankie Coote agrees,

Everyone wants to see a good result for them and finishing up humanely and well looked after.

Frankie Coote would like to see somebody with goats or with a knowledge of goats taking on the herd.

Clare Country Council is looking at options for the safe removal and relocation of the goats from the area. In the meantime it is erecting signage on N85 and N68 alerting road users to their presence.
