The narrow streets of Wexford town were not designed to deal with motor traffic.

The town of Wexford is famed for its narrow and winding streets. This centuries old infrastructure is not suited to modern transport however, and the traffic sub-committee of Wexford County Council will discuss the town’s traffic problems at the next meeting.

Plans are afoot to restrict areas of Wexford town centre to car traffic, and

Limit the use of the street to pedestrians only.

This follows the failure of measures such as stricter parking restrictions, on the spot fines and the provision of extra parking spaces by Wexford County Council.
