Jerry Lee Lewis plays Cork Opera House as music stars and fans head to the city.

Among the performers in Cork for the Carling Country Music Festival is Jerry Lee Lewis who has been described as the king of rock and roll since the death of Elvis Presley.

The man who offended American morals in the 1950s when he married a 14 year old cousin.

Jerry Lee Lewis arrived to perform at the Cork Opera House as the leading star in Ireland's first country music festival. Other big names on the bill included Bill Monroe, Jeanne Pruett and Billie Jo Spears.

Musical concerts and events took place at the Cork Opera House and throughout the city's pubs and hotels providing a much needed tourist boost.
