Does the town of Midleton in Cork need a sub post office?
In a letter sent to 'Newsbeat' presenter Frank Hall, an old age pensioner makes the case for the establishment of a sub post office in the town of Midleton, County Cork.
If you had to trudge about a mile for your few shillings and to add to the burden then have to wait up to twenty minutes in the queue for an official to serve you, it would put years on you.
The local council have been pressing to get this extra amenity for Midleton, but so far the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs Erskine Childers has resisted the request.
One councillor recently stated,
Sure there’s no need for a sub post office in Midleton, the town is only a few hundred yards long.
The pensioner is not impressed by this remark and is convinced,
If they were my age they would have second thoughts on the matter.
