Former US President Dwight Eisenhower visits Wexford in the rain and plays golf at Portmarnock.

General Eisenhower lays a wreath at the Commodore Barry Memorial in Wexford. He was greeted by Mayor James Cullimore and inspected a guard of honour. The bunting was up in Wexford town to welcome the former President and his wife Mary 'Mamie', who accompanied him on the trip.
Among his guests were his grandchildren, David and Barbara Anne; the American Ambassador Mr McCloskey; the General's military aide Brig-Gen R Schultz; Mr Freeman Godson, a personal friend; Col J F O'Brien, US Military Attached, and Mr Knight of the US Embassy.
Later, having returned to Dublin, he played a round of golf with Harry Bradshaw at Portmarnock Golf Club.
