Cork Film Festival puts the focus on the need for the establishment of a national film industry in Ireland.

A call for the establishment of an Irish national film industry at the Cork Film Festival. The annual film festival in Cork, now in its 17th year, has been the only source of support for the Irish film industry for many years.

Dermot Breen of the Cork Film Festival says that while the film trade itself is very supportive, there is a lack of support from the general public. He hopes that the technical awards presented by the Cork Film Festival will showcase Ireland to the international film industry.
