Passengers delayed in Shannon Airport by an air traffic strike in Britain are philosophical about the disruption to their travel plans.

Passengers travelling to New York, Boston and Miami in the United States of America are delayed in Shannon Airport when an air traffic controllers' strike in Britain disrupts their flights.

We knew there was a strike on but we came in hope that we wouldn't be delayed but we’re in good company.

Many passengers settled in the departure lounge are prepared for a long wait. One man is not allowing the delay to ruin his holiday and passes the time by reading.

A woman destined for Boston with her husband has been in the airport for hours. They are coping well.

We’re doing alright; it really is an awful nuisance though.

Her husband adds,

It’s alright, I’ll be glad to get home.

A young man is stoical about the delay,

It’s only eight hours out of my life; I’m only 20 so I mean, what’s another few hours?
