The Spring Show held at the Royal Dublin Society is one of the largest events in the agricultural calendar.

US Ambassador to Ireland Raymond Guest told RTÉ News about his love of Connemara ponies and how they would sell like hot cakes in America if they were just advertised better.

I think they're ideal for all young people.

Hundreds of spectators were treated to a parade of prize winning cattle, some of which ran amok.

One of the big attractions of the Spring Show was the appearance of Arkle, winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 1964 and 1965. Jockey Pat Taaffe took the reins for the lap of honour in the show jumping arena.

The RDS Spring Show ran from 4 to 8 May. Some of the key events at the Spring Show include jumping competitions, a dressage competition, sheep dog displays, sheep shearing competitions, and poultry judging competitions.
