The publication of the most popular baby names in Ireland shows a trend towards place names.
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has published for the first time a list of the country's most popular baby names for 1998. Conor for a boy and Chloe for a girl, are the most popular baby names of 1998.
The list shows that traditional Irish names are slipping out of fashion, while television is having a big influence on the names parents choose for their children.
At the National Maternity Hospital, new mothers explain why they chose their children's names.
Any Conor I know is a big man so I think he's going to be a big, strong man.
While Irish names are dropping down the list, there is a new trend towards place names such as India, Shannon, Tara, Paris and Brooklyn.
