By 1974, about 50 per cent of programmes shown on RTÉ Television are in colour. Plans are now afoot for an all-colour service by 1976.

On 22 March 1974, the RTÉ Guide published an eight page supplement in which broadcasters and engineers consider what colour television will mean to the viewing public.

The supplement includes contributions from Louis McRedmond Head of Information and Publications, Michael Garvey Controller of Programmes, Fergal Cogley Head of Sport, Alpho O'Reilly Director of Design, Ted Crowley Duty Engineer, and Eddie Joynt Senior Engineer.
