Every year President Hillery visits Mosney in County Meath to meet the competitors of the Community Games finals and present medals to the winners.
President Hillery believes the games have a tremendous educational value
It is a marvellous occasion for me and I'm so happy to see the children enjoying themselves, competing with one another and learning the many things that can be done by individuals in terms of organisation, entertainment and enjoyment in which they can participate themselves.
Over the years the community games has gone from strength to strength with more and more competitors each year. Next year the games will grow further with competitions to be held between the Irish winners and the winners of the British Community Games.
