35 year old Fianna Fáil TD Bertie Ahern has been elected as the new Lord Mayor of Dublin.
In his opening address at the Mansion House Bertie Ahern outlines his plans for his tenure as Lord Mayor
As Lord Mayor I shall endeavour not only to build up the confidence and morale of the citizens but also to make it my business in a special way to seek out and encourage those who are willing to invest their time, talents and finance in providing employment for our people.
Taking up the position Bertie Ahern succeeded another Fianna Fáil TD Jim Tunney.
