RTÉ News reports from Lansdowne Road in Dublin where the Irish rugby team are in training ahead of their international match against France in Paris.
This will be Ireland's first game of the 1986 Five Nations season as they set out to defend the championship they won last year.

I think it will be 50-50... I think we have as good a chance as France have and we intend to try to win.
Team Captain Ciaran Fitzgerald was quietly optimistic about Ireland's performance on French turf saying
I'm confident in the ability of this squad.
This RTÉ News report by Alan McCullough was broadcast on 30 January 1986.
