A new Gaeltacht area established in county Meath.
On 10 April 1935 Ráth Chairn Gaeltacht in county Meath was founded.
The Ráth Chairn Gaeltacht emerged with the resettlement of the first of a number of families from Connemara. The land had been previously acquired by the Land Commission of Ireland. 41 families were initially resettled there and provided with a house and a farm of just over 20 acres, a sow, piglets and basic farming implements.
