It was recently reported that Dublin City Council is considering new laws to control the public nuisance of buskers. On this day in 1974, Tangents broadcast a report on busking in Dublin. In this clip, three musicians share their experiences and talk about the problems they have with the police in Dublin. They say that Ireland has one of the strictest street entertainment laws in Europe.

The buskers are Seamus MacArdghail, Ronnie Carlyon and Max Rinder. Does anyone know what became of them? Are they still out there busking? Contact us at archives@rte.ie or on Twitter @RTEArchives.

Tangents was a miscellany of events, entertainment, opinions and personalities, first broadcast on 25 September 1972. It was presented by Cathal O'Shannon, Doireann Ní Bhriain and John O'Donoghue and ran until 1974.
