A man in his 30s is in a critical condition following an alleged assault in Dungarvan, Co Waterford last night.
The man, who is from the town, was injured during an incident outside a nightclub on Davitts Quay at around 2am.
It is understood he sustained head injuries and was taken originally to University Hospital Waterford but has been transferred to Cork where his condition is described as critical.
A man in his 20s from the town has been arrested following the incident.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Dungarvan Garda Station on 058-48600.
