Gardaí believe that the skeletal remains found near Ballyandrew in Wexford are those of a woman.

Judging by the evidence they have at present, gardaí believe the woman may have died in the past year or two.

They have also said they are hopeful that they will be able to identify her tomorrow.

The remains were discovered in a ditch by the side of a road by a person out walking at around 11.30am.

Gardaí at Bunclody are leading the investigation into the discovery of the remains.

They believe it could be days and possibly weeks before they are able to establish the cause of death.

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place tomorrow.
