An Irish man who has pleaded guilty to providing funding for an Islamic State terrorist organisation will be sentenced in June.

Hassan Bal, 26, who had lived on O’Connell Street in Waterford, was before Waterford Circuit Court today.

The court heard that before he is sentenced, evidence will be given from a German de-radicalisation expert but his report is not yet ready.

Bal was arrested in Waterford city a year ago and was remanded in custody today to appear again on May 30th with sentencing due to be fixed for June.

He pleaded guilty earlier this year to two counts relating to the funding and attempted funding of Islamic State.
