Mourners at the funeral mass of a Co Louth teenager who was found dead in a field last month have heard an appeal for anyone with any information about his death to come forward.
Cameron Reilly, 18, was found dead in Dunleer, Co Louth on Saturday 26 May, and a post-mortem examination found he had been strangled.
A murder investigation is currently under way.
Local sport clubs and organisations, including GAA clubs St Kevin’s and Lann Léire, formed a guard of honour as Mr Reilly's remains were brought the short distance from a local funeral home to the church.
Parish priest Fr Michael Murtagh led the service, and said the community was "shocked, stunned and deeply saddened" by the "unprecedented" events.
He spoke of the "profound love" people had for Cameron, who he described as a "quiet young man ... very helpful, very courteous."
He also appealed for young people to reflect on what happened, and to learn lessons, and urged them to examine the direction their lives are taking.
Fr Murtagh made a direct appeal to anyone who might know anything about Cameron’s death to come forward and speak to local gardaí, who he said enjoyed the full support of the community.
Investigations are continuing into Cameron's murder.
The student was last seen in the vicinity of Ardee Road, Dunleer at around 12.30am on 26 May. His body was discovered in a field in the area at around 8am.
Gardaí have appealed for the public’s help and have released an image of the cover that was on Cameron’s missing iPhone, which is believed to be key to the case.
The phone is believed to have been stolen following the murder. The cover is black with a lime green trim along the edge.
Cameron Reilly was laid to rest in Mullary Cemetery following the funeral mass.
