Four people have been arrested in relation to an armed robbery at a service station in Carlow overnight.
The incident took place around 2.30am at the service station at Tinryland, off the M9 motorway outside Carlow town.
At least two men entered the service station, one armed with a gun and the other with a knife.
A shot was fired during the robbery, but nobody was injured.
The men got away with a quantity of cash and made off in a Volkswagen Golf.
Three men and a woman, believed to be in their 20s, were arrested shortly after 9am at a house in Carlow town following a search.
They are being detained at Carlow Garda Station.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone in the filling station or the surrounding area between 2am and 2.30am to come forward with information by contacting Carlow Garda Station on 059-913 66220 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
