The prosecution in the trial of three men accused of being involved in the murder of David Byrne at the Regency Hotel in Dublin six years ago claims a car linked to one of them was used to help a gunman flee the scene.

The 33-year-old Kinahan gang member was shot dead after a team of six armed men arrived at the hotel and started shooting at a boxing weigh-in, which was organised by a company linked to the Kinahan organised crime group.

CCTV footage was shown in court today of six men, including a man with a wig and a man wearing a flat cap, running down a lane ten minutes after the murder.

The lane runs from the Charlemont estate where the team's getaway van was burned out, to St Vincent's GAA club in Marino.

The prosecution has told the court that the man with the flat cap is Kevin Murray, the late dissident republican gunman, who was part of the "hit team" on the day of the murder.

Murray also stayed in the hotel the night before.

The third man in the group of men shown running, is seen putting a bag into the back passenger seat of a black BMW X5 Jeep and getting into the front.

The prosecution also says the jeep is linked to Jason Bonney who is accused of helping an organised crime gang commit the murder by providing a motor vehicle.

The 50-year-old from Drumnigh Wood in Portmarnock has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

His defence counsel John Fitzgerald has already said they will be challenging the evidence and that it intends to rely on an alibi.

The black jeep was also shown on CCTV footage in court this afternoon driving through a number of north Dublin locations after the murder on 5 February 2016, before arriving at Drumnigh Wood in Portmarnock.

It is seen arriving at 3.50pm and leaving approximately 40 minutes later.

59-year-old Paul Murphy, from Cabra Road in Dublin, also denies a charge of helping a criminal gang to commit the murder by providing it with a motor vehicle while 59-year-old Gerard Hutch, the man known as "the Monk", from the Paddocks in Clontarf in Dublin, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of David Byrne.

The trial continues on Monday.
