Gardaí arrested three men for the attempted murder of a woman who was set on fire at her home in Dublin last November.

Forty-four-year-old Alexis Lee Campion was seriously injured and suffered severe life changing burns to her face and body during the attack in Clondalkin on 25 November.

Gardaí also searched nine properties this morning as part of the wider investigation targeting organised crime gangs, drugs dealing and drug debt intimidation in south and west Dublin.

At the centre of the investigation is what has been described as the horrific attack on Ms Campion at her home in Oak Downs in Clondalkin.

Ms Campion answered a call to her door at 10.10am that morning and an accelerant, apparently petrol, was poured on her and set alight.

Her family has said she sustained severe burns to 35% of her body in what they described as a violent act that has caused devastating and permanent damage to her life.

They have said she has undergone multiple surgeries and suffered several amputations and is still being treated in hospital.

This morning three men in their 20s, 30s and 40s were arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of her, and were taken to garda stations in west Dublin to be questioned.

They are being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, anti-gang legislation, and can be held in custody for up to a week.

Gardaí have also set up a high intensity policing operation to support the criminal investigation into the attack.

They have said it is taking place under Operation Fógra, set up to tackle organised crime gangs, drugs related intimidation and drugs dealing.

Nine properties were also searched this morning, bringing the total number of searches so far in the investigation to almost 30.

Three men have already been charged in connection with the attack and are currently before the courts.

Gardaí have also appointed a family liaison officer to the Campion family.
