An online activist has been convicted of hate crimes following a trial in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Graham Carey of Dunsink Drive in Finglas had pleaded not guilty to two charges of acting in a way likely to stir up hatred contrary to the Prohibition of Incitement to Hatred Act, 1989.
He was arrested and charged following an investigation by the Garda's Special Detective Unit and denied broadcasting on social media material likely to stir up hatred.
The 42-year-old defended himself during the course of the trial, which continued for a week, but he was found guilty by a jury yesterday afternoon.
He was remanded to appear in court again next week.
