Two men, one from Dublin and one from Meath, have been remanded in custody after being charged in relation to €2m in cash found by gardaí over the weekend.

The men were brought before a sitting of Wexford District Court this morning.

Glen Power, 29, of Ballyfermot, Dublin is facing two charges in relation to an alleged handing over of €505,000 in cash at a car park in Wexford town and the subsequent discovery of another €500,000 in cash in the attic of his house.

Bernard Joyce, 44, of Ashbourne, Co Meath is charged with possessing property that gardaí believe is the proceeds of criminal activity.

He is charged that when the gardaí raided a house at Arnestown, Foulksmills, Co Wexford on Saturday they recovered 20 bundles of cash with approximately €50,000 in each bundle, giving a total value of €1m to the cash found.

Both are charged under the Money Laundering Act.

The court heard that when both were charged they made no reply.

There was no application for bail for Mr Joyce, while there was an application for bail for Mr Power which was contested by the State and Judge Gerard Haughton ruled he would not be granting bail.

Both men have been remanded in custody.
