From a viral TikTok dance routine, to an Irish nurse's reimagining of a Johannes Vermeer painting, here are five positive things happening now:
1. Nurses at Temple Street Children's University Hospital took a break from the frontline to film a TikTok dance routine with 11-year-old Anthony Iannucci from Dublin. The TikTok has since gone viral with over 870,000 views on the site.
2. Student nurse Chloe Slevin, from Nutgrove, Dublin, painted a picture titled 'Girl with a Surgical Mask'. The painting is a reimagining of Johannes Vermeer’s painting, 'Girl with a Pearl Earring'. Chloe is hoping to sell her painting and give all the proceeds to the Feed the Heroes campaign.
3. Dublin musician Martin McDonnell performed an outdoor 'mini-gig' for his neighbours on the Navan Road in Dublin. One of the songs he performed was John Lennon’s 'Imagine'. Martin said he hoped his gig boosted his neighbours' morale.
4. The Dublin Concert Band and the Choir of Holy Family School for the Deaf did a unique version of David Bowie's 'Heroes'. Their performance includes Irish Sign Language interpretation and is dedicated to everyone who has undertaken heroic acts of bravery and kindness during Covid-19 pandemic.
5. Finally, the Castlelyons Gospel Choir teamed up with Voice of Ireland competitor Moylan Brunnock to produce a song called 'Zoom Zoom Baby'. The song is about life in lockdown in Ireland.
