Events are being held to mark International Women's Day in Ireland and around the world.
The day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
It also marks a call to action for accelerating gender equality.
This year's campaign theme is #EachforEqual.
The day is an official holiday in countries around the world, and sees men honouring the special women in their lives with flowers and small gifts.
In some countries, IWD has the equivalent status of Mother's Day.
Bronagh Harte, the owner of Ginkgo Florists in Dublin, says: "It's normally Eastern European guys who are buying flowers today. They come in and buy smaller items, such as tulips or a single rose. It’s for any ladies in their lives, like their mothers, partners, sisters or friends."
