Keegan awarded £150,000 in libel case

Former England soccer manager Kevin Keegan has accepted £150,000 in libel damages from the News of the World newspaper. In an article last November the paper alleged that Keegan was the ringleader in a betting school that caused bitter rifts between England players. It also claimed that Keegan allowed gambling to go on long into the night on the eve of matches. The newspaper will also pay Keegan's legal fees, the cost of which has yet to be worked out.
