After all that rushing around to stock up on everything from milk, veg and of course bread #breadwatch now its time to keep your gang fed and warm. Here are a few soup ideas to get you started.

From popular pea soup to the Irish staple, vegetable to the old favourite chicken noodle plus a couple of surprises, here are five of our favourites.

1. Vegetable soup...like your mammy makes it
Many of us have memories of delicious roast chicken dinners at home with all the family with the best tasting roast potatoes in the world. The next day, the leftover chicken carcass would be put to good use as the basis for the tastiest vegetable soup possible and Richie Wilson is showing us how in his recipe. Click here for more.

2. Pea Soup
Paul Flynn, who is a regular on the Today show with Maura and Dáíthí, has whipped up this pea soup. Its a winner in our books and not just because it takes 10 minutes to make. All you need are a bag of frozen peas and three other ingredients - rosemary sprig is optional! Click here for all the details.

3. Angel Hair Soup
Donal Skehan's tomato, chickpea, spinach and angel hair soup would put hair on your chest, sure there's eatin' and drinkin' in it and any other mammy-isms you can add in yourself. Would love to see if this tastes as good as it looks...

4. And now for something completely different...but still from Donal: Mexican Chicken & sweet corn Soup. Sounds delicious doesn't it? This is another 5 ingredient dish and takes about 25 minutes to cook.

5. Leek and potato soup
We love our simple tasty soups and why wouldn't we given the quality of our home produced veg? This one is as easy as it is tasty - an old reliable. Here's how.

Fancy a little bread and butter on the side? Given the shortage and #breadwatch, why not make your own.
