The line-up for the 2019 Vodafone Comedy Carnival has been revealed and, comedy fans, it's a good one.
18 venues across Galway are set to host 75 shows and over 100 quality acts for seven jam-packed days over the extended October bank holiday weekend.
As well as the usual heap of homegrown talent, there will be some big international acts taking center stage including (deep breath) Bill Bailey, John Bishop, Jo Caulfield, Ross Noble, Reginald D Hunter, Omid Djalili, Rich Hall, Shappi Khorsandi, Ashley Storrie, and Barry Castagnola.
Irish acts will include Jason Byrne, Ardal O'Hanlon, Enya Martin, Anna Clifford, Andrew Maxwell, Danny O'Brien, Edwin Sammon, Emman Idama, Paul Currie, Steve Bennett, Bernard O'Shea, Irish comedy veteran Barry Murphy, and Derry Girls star Kevin McAleer. Plus, Irish-based comics Danay Kidane, Damo Clark, and Jim Elliott.
Other highlights include Strictly Come Dancing’s, Seann Walsh and Dancing with the Stars' Fred Cooke (fingers crossed we'll witness a late-night dance-off in Eyre Square).
Need a break from traditional stand-up? No problem. This year's festival has everything from glittering cabaret and wild bingo raves to merciless roast battles and live podcast interviews.
Dark comic Ryan Cullen and Ireland's Got Talent contestant Jim Elliott will be hosting a downright brutal Roast Battle with some yet to be named
While, elsewhere, comedic farmer Breda Larkin has teamed up with Burlesque Chanteuse, Miss Lavelle, to present a two-woman show with tongue and cheek banter, sing-a-long performances, sketches, and original songs.
Ireland's favourite messers, The Two Johnnies, will be presenting their live podcast and book launch with a very special guest (we're betting an appearance from Noel Furlong will be on the cards too).
The outrageously popular satirical news site Waterford Whispers News are bringing their stunning new live experience to the Black Box.
And, get ready ravers, Bingo Loco are set to deliver their biggest shows in Galway to date. This bingo party is set to blow the roof off the Galmont Ballroom with the help of MC Adam Burke.
All this as well as the fantastic Karl Spain's Late Night KARLnival, The Dirty Circus Hallowe’en Extravaganza, Comedy Club Crawl, Stephen Frost’s Improv AllStars, A Dark Show, and the Wild Atlantic Wahey Mystery Tour.
