Finucane, Marian

Marian Finucane (1950-2020) broadcaster was born in Dublin, she studied architecture in Bolton Street College of Technology before leaving to join RTÉ as a continuity announcer in 1974.

Her first job as a presenter was on the radio books programme 'Paper Chase'. She then became a reporter on 'Day By Day'. In 1979, Marian Finucane presented 'Women Today', a radio show dealing with issues affecting women.

In 1985, she became the first presenter of 'Liveline', a live radio show where members of the public phone in with their opinions, which she continued to present until 1999.

Marian Finucane received a PPI Radio Award for outstanding achievement in broadcasting in 2008. She presented 'The Marian Finucane Show' a current affairs programme broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1.
