Hanley, Vincent
DJ, broadcaster and television presenter Vincent Hanley, also known as "Fab Vinny".
Tipperary born DJ, broadcaster and television presenter Vincent Hanley (1954-1987) began his career at RTÉ Radio Cork before moving to RTÉ Radio 1 and RTÉ Television. Vincent went on to work at RTÉ Radio Two (now 2FM) when it was established in 1979.
In 1981, he moved to London and began presenting at Capital Radio.
In 1983 he moved to New York where he founded Green Apple Productions along with RTÉ television producer Conor McAnally. The company began producing the 3-hour music programme MT-USA, modelled on MTV and Vincent became a household name in Ireland known to many as "Fab Vinny". MT-USA was broadcast on RTÉ from 1984 until 1987 and featured Vincent introducing music videos from the New York City.
During his career Vincent also presented programmes such as 'Summerhouse', 'Workshop', ''Country Folk', the Stag/Hot Press Awards, Live Aid for Africa, and appeared in the variety show 'Christmas at Castle Backtax'.
In 1987, at the age of 33, Vincent Hanley died.
