A week of events to mark the 50th anniversary of the Easter Rising ended with a ceremony at the General Post Office in O'Connell Street, Dublin.
President de Valera gave the closing address at the final tribute to the men and women of 1916. Veterans of the Easter Rising and the War of Independence paraded in front of the GPO. The Last Post and Reveille was sounded by trumpeters from the Irish army and troops who lined the parapet of the General Post Office fired a feu de joie.
The ceremony was broadcast live on RTÉ radio and television.
