Heaney celebrates his 70th birthday.
Seamus Heaney celebrated his 70th birthday on 13 April 2009. The occasion was marked by a number of special events, including the launch of a 15-CD box set of the poet's work by RTÉ an exhibition and a birthday party at the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham, Dublin.
In this RTÉ News report, Heaney describes the event as "a totally luminous occasion. And if the wheel has come full circle, that only means that the wheel is about to turn once more".
