Karl Jones reports for radio from Wexford Town, where President Kennedy will shortly lay a wreath at the statue of John Barry in Crescent Quay. Barry was a commander of the American navy who was born in Wexford and Kennedy himself is a former naval officer.
Jones describes both the street scene and conditions on the sea. He says that a while ago there were more gardaí than spectators present, but now the place is thronged and looks like the 51st state of the United States, with American flags everywhere. The president arrives in a motorcade, wearing a light grey suit and looking very smart.
