John Bowman takes to the streets of Dublin to get people's reactions to the death of President Kennedy.
John Bowman recorded this vox pop on the streets of Dublin on 22 November 1963, the day President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. It was the final item on the special programme 'John F. Kennedy: Tributes and Memories'.
Everyone Bowman speaks to is shocked and full of praise for the dead president. Comments include "critical", "stupid" and "a desperate tragedy". According to one young boy, "he had great confidence in himself and in the whole world". A woman who went to see him in College Green the day he arrived in Ireland says "he was so good" and that "it was in his face what he was".
